A Day with Jason Steel zu S2/E11

Berlin, April 2019. A day of filming that initially feels routine – until the camera keeps watching.

For UNTOLD DPM, the team follows Jason during a production in Berlin. Filming takes place across several locations, with parts of the day spent outside in temperatures close to freezing. But what makes this day remarkable is less what happens during the production itself than what unfolds around it. A young performer has brought her boyfriend with her. He stays.
While she works in front of the camera, he is only a few metres away. The documentary observes this unusual situation without explaining or judging it. Small gestures, glances and pauses in conversation sometimes reveal more than what is actually said.
Jason also speaks unusually openly that day. About his work, but also about events in his private life and serious health issues that had changed a great deal shortly before filming.

The camera keeps rolling as an ordinary day of production gradually becomes something more personal.

The footage was filmed in 2019 and originally became part of the UNTOLD DPM archive, built up over many years. It is now being shown publicly for the first time.
UNTOLD DPM is an independent fly-on-the-wall documentary series about people, work and the reality behind one of the world's most debated industries – without staging situations for the documentary and without providing retrospective answers to what the camera observed.
